General Operative (Added Value)

Job Specification

We are recruiting for a General Operative at our premises located in Inverurie. This is a full time, permanent role working 40 hours per week - Monday – Friday 6 am – 2.30 pm. Overtime working may be available, which would include Saturday working.

Working within an established, diverse team, you will be responsible for producing a wide variety of Donald Russell products by hand, including sausages, burgers, sausage rolls and en-croutes, all to our exacting high standards. You will be trained to operate machinery as required, but most of the preparation and finishing work will be carried out by hand. You will also be required to pack and move finished pallets of products all whilst adhering to strict food hygiene standards.

This work will involve working in a chilled environment wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) which will be provided.

Whilst no specific qualifications are required for this role, we would be keen to receive applications from individuals who have previous food preparation experience, with particular emphasis on working with pastry and/or meat products.

As a food production service it is vital we remain open. We are adhering to the guidance set down by the government with regards to social distancing in the work place. As such, we would also require that applicants themselves are able to adhere to the recognised government social distancing advice, ie travelling to work by car/ motorbike / bicycle alone, or be able to walk to work at Inverurie.

General Operative (Picking)

Job Specification

We have permanent vacancies for General Operatives at our premises in Kintore, working a late shift as part of our Picking Team. This is a permanent role working Monday – Friday 2 pm – 10 pm with overtime as and when required (which may include Saturday working).

Working within the Picking Department as part of an established and diverse team, you will be responsible for selecting customer orders to their exact specifications and ensuring that the highest standard of quality and hygiene is maintained. This is a busy department and a high attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately is essential, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy in the orders picked.

As our product is frozen, you will be working in a freezer environment which is below freezing, however, appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided as well as additional warming breaks outwith your normal breaks. Full training will be provided on the processes, along with training on any machinery required to be used.

As a food production service, it is vital that we remain open. However, we require to adhere to the social distancing guidance set down by the government. In view of this, applications will ONLY be progressed from individuals who will be able to adhere to the recognised social distancing advice, ie travelling to work by car or motorbike alone, or be able to walk to work at Kintore. We have permanent vacancies for General Operatives at our premises in Kintore, working a late shift as part of our Packing Team. This is a permanent role working Monday – Friday 2 pm – 10 pm with overtime as and when required (which may include Saturday working).

Working as part of an established and diverse team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our customer orders are packed appropriately and passed to our distribution department. You will be required to operate scanning and bar-coding equipment and high attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately is essential, whilst ensuring that the highest standard of quality and hygiene is maintained. During busy periods, there may be the requirement to provide support to the Dry Ice Team in packing orders.

You will be working in a chilled environment, however, appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided as well as full training on the processes, along with training on any machinery required to be used. The ability to adhere and maintain strict hygiene and quality standards is essential.

On-Call Sales Advisor

Job Specification

This on call role is based within the Contact Centre in Inverurie, taking telephone calls and enquiries from new and existing customers and placing orders on our in house system - all whilst providing a first class customer service. You will also be responsible for keeping accurate records of customer interactions and undertake various administrative duties relevant to the role, such as following up on customer enquiries and emails. .

Shifts will be offered where possible during the normal opening hours which are:

Monday – Friday 8 am – 6 pm
Saturday - 9 am – 4 pm
Sunday – 9 am – 4 pm

The role is an on call role with no guarantee of any hours in any given week and there is a requirement for full flexibility to be able to cover the opening hours as above. Currently, we have a particular requirement for Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm cover

As the “voice” of Donald Russell, applicants should possess exceptional communication skills, with an ability to display confidence, patience, tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult situations. Strong MS Office skills are essential, as is the ability to learn a bespoke IT package. Previous experience within a customer service environment would be advantageous, but not essential as full training will be given.

As this role involves processing financial transactions for our customers, all successful applicants will be required to undertake and successfully pass a basic Disclosure Scotland check.
