Production Operative - Job Specification

Reporting to a Team Lead this position is based in Inverurie.

Working hours are Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week (6 am – 2.30 pm) with overtime when required.
Duties will include:
  • On a daily basis, preparation of product to Donald Russell and customer standards and specifications
  • Develop basic knife skills to trim and debone meat products (full in house training given)
  • Operation of any machinery used during the production process (full training will be provided)
  • Weighing and packing meat products
  • Counting, moving, lifting and stacking product as required (training in manual handling will be given)
  • Completion of specification paperwork
  • Good housekeeping and ensuring all equipment is kept in good condition
  • Maintain quality and hygiene standards
Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience within a food despatch environment would be beneficial but not essential
  • Knowledge of meat products and knife skills would be beneficial but not essential
  • Ability to understand and adhere to food safety standards
  • Weighing and packing meat products
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to understand specification sheets
  • A desire to product excellent work, both individually and as part of a highly-motivated team

Food Advisor - Job Specification

This exciting position is based within the Contact Centre at our main premises at Inverurie, working 37.5 hours per week (exact days/hours to be confirmed). This is a key role in building and enhancing the relationship Donald Russell has with its many customers.


You will be responsible for hitting key monthly sales and margin targets set for different activities, by undertaking outbound telemarketing campaigns to build relationships with existing customers and generate additional sales. You will have the opportunity to develop a personal customer base and have responsibility for optimising service and sales for your group, as well as resolving any queries or complaints raised.


Full training on all products (and yes that includes tasting!) will be a vital part to enhancing your knowledge of Donald Russell products to pass onto your customers.


An organised self-starter, confident communicator with first class interpersonal skills and excellent sales skills are key to success in this role. Proficiency in all MS Office packages and the ability to learn a bespoke ordering system are essential, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team when the need arises.


This role will be salaried, with a bonus scheme in place linked to performance.


As this role involves processing financial transactions for our customers, all successful applicants will be required to undertake and successfully pass a basic Disclosure Scotland check.

Customer Service Supervisor - Job Specification

Reporting to the Customer Experience Manager, this exciting position is based within the Contact Centre at our main premises in Inverurie.

This is a key role, leading the Customer Services team to deliver a high quality customer service experience.

You will be responsible for leading the team to deliver the highest level of customer service to all Donald Russell customers and ensuring timely investigation, resolution and reporting of all customer complaints and enquires. You will have the opportunity to develop best in class verbal and written communication standards for all customer service interactions as well as, implement evaluate and continually improve effective processes for all interactions with our customers.

You are ideally educated to degree level or equivalent and have obtained or are working towards a Management level qualification. An excellent communicator with first class interpersonal skills and confident when dealing with difficult situations are key to the success of this role. Proficiency in all MS Office packages and thorough understanding of customer review platforms are essential, as well as proven experience of effectively managing and leading a team.

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, however the Contact Centre is operational Monday to Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 10am-4pm and some flexibility will be required to cover absences and annual leave. This could include temporary changes to working hours and some occasional weekend working.

  • Operation of any machinery used during the butchery process (full training will be provided)
  • Ability to understand and adhere to traceability procedures
  • Good housekeeping and ensuring all equipment is kept in good condition
  • Maintain quality and hygiene standards
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Donald Russell QHSE procedures
