Cooking Instructions:

Suitable Cooking Methods - Pan Fry, Poaching or Steaming. Try them the Scottish way, coated in oatmeal and fried in butter.

Dry fry: There is so much oil in a fresh herring it is quite possible to dry fry the herring without any additional fat being added to a hot non-stick frying pan.
Fry for 3-4 minutes each side taking care not to burn.

Shallow fry:Add a very small amount of fat to a frying pan and bring to temperature.
Add the herring fillet to the pan and fry for 3-4 minutes each side.
