Reduced
Packaging - The uptake of this
option has increased from 18.9% to 54.2% in the past 12 months.
This has saved 54 tonnes of plastic from ending up in
landfill.
Dry Ice - This is made from recycled CO2 and has
replaced gel ice in most of our deliveries.
Recyclable and recycled materials for packaging
- Most of our packaging is either recycled,
recyclable or both and failing that it is always reusable.
- The move to butcher’s paper in place of black plastic box
liners contributed towards the above 54 tonnes remaining out of
landfills.
- We make our white cardboard boxes from 87.5% recycled material,
and they are 100% recyclable.
-We recycle all the cardboard that comes into our
premises, by taking it to a local recycling point

What we are working on:
We are constantly looking at new ways in which we can be
greener at Donald Russell. Right now we are
investigating ways to make our packing more environmentally
friendly, through reducing, recycling and reusing.
At our premises in Aberdeenshire we encourage staff to use greener
ways of getting to work including cycling, public transport and on
foot.
