Delicious premium steaks turn any meal into a truly memorable occasion. This steak is cut from the Chateaubriand (fillet head), creating a beautifully tender steak.

Head Chef's Tip:
Our Classic Fillet Steaks are cut from the fillet head, or Chateaubriand. They're a little wider than our regular Fillet Steaks, and the grain has a slightly 'looser' texture; they might also contain a smidgin of fat on the underside. This combination makes them really soft and tender! We recommend cooking them with the band on, to help them retain their shape.

-18°C. Once defrosted store between 0 - 5°C. Use within 24 hours

Remove the steak from its packaging, allow the meat to come to room temperature for 20 minutes, patting dry with kitchen paper. Heat the oil in a large frying pan, over a high heat. Cook the steaks to your liking following the recommended times.

Rare: 4-5 minutes per side, rest for 6 minutes
Medium: 5½ -6 minutes per side, rest for 4 minutes
Well Done: 7-7½ minutes per side, rest for 1 minute

Remove from the pan, cover with foil and leave to rest in a warm place for the recommended time.

Excellent taste and very tender although expensive

this is the first time i have had the fillet steaks and they were terrible. rolled up pieces of meat with large chunk of fat in the middle. They had cut marks in them also. I have never seen a steak like it. Definately not cut from one piece of fillet. very dissapointed. i can not upload a picture... Read More.
very tender and flavoursome
beautiful flavour and just the right size
I have purchased fillet steak from Donald Russell over a number of years and once again the quality is first rate.
Always great taste and very lean.
Very tasty served with sautéed shallots and mushrooms and home made oven chips, complemented by a glass of burgundy.

Excellent product. I followed DR's cooking instructions and these steaks were both succulent, full-flavoured and tender.

Wow, the taste is marvellous and the meat is so tender.
The one thing about Donald Russell's fillet steaks is that they are the same size and that makes cooking them to your liking that much easier. I doubt if you will taste any better anywhere ever.
