Braised Red Cabbage

Sweet and sharp red cabbage, braised until tender and silky
  (71 reviews)
Sweet, sharp and with a complex flavour as deep as its vibrant colour, this cabbage is a treat for your senses. Our chefs have let it braise down with Bramley apples and caramelised onion, before adding a dollop of redcurrant jelly and delicately spicing with warming cinnamon and cloves. You have to try it with venison, rich pork belly, or our Confit Duck Leg – wow!
  • Shredded red cabbage, slowly braised until melt-in-the-mouth tender
  • Cooked with sweet apples, sharp balsamic vinegar and a blend of warming spices
  • The ideal accompaniment to deeply flavoured or rich meats
  • So convenient – just heat from frozen

As described. Fantastic value for money. Part of a main course for our son's 30th birthday dinner. Not overly sweet. Genuinely appreciative comments from all who attended the dinner. Thank you Donald Russell for making this get-together so special!
Brilliant, I really like this, brought some for Christmas and had to get some more

A big favourite! Always ensure I have some in freezer.
Wonderful time saver and nicely spiced
The red cabbage was not what we thought, very bland. Thanks for your comment.

A delicious, really extremely easy accompaniment for the Venison casserole. Allowing me time with my guests not at the stove.

Used to think M&S had the best braised red cabbage until we tried Donald Russell's. Flavour is subtle but not sharp as in the case of other well known brands.
Delicious - as a side and the remainder made into a soup with beetroot!
O.k. I usually make it myself, but this was a good, convenient alternative
The portions were very small for the price, but it tasted ok.
Used to make my own but not worth doing that now as this is so good.
