Nothing says love like lamb!

Whether you love or loath the glorious 14th of February you simply cannot avoid it – love is quite literally everywhere at this time of year, but don’t lose sight of what the day is really all about…having a fantastic meal with the one you love!
If you (like most of us here!) are keeping a close eye on the funds, a romantic meal at home is just as good if not better than a trip out for dinner, and with our beautiful Lamb Valentine Steaks you are onto a sure winner.

Our Butchers carve out prime lamb loin steak and then use their years of classic training to butterfly the loin into attractive heart shapes – voila: Our Lamb Valentine Steaks! To accompany them, why not try this deliciously bright and fresh pea hummus. Here’s the complete recipe for your perfect romantic dinner...
You will need the following:
300g frozen Petit Pois
2 Garlic cloves (peeled and crushed)
1 heaped tsp Ground Cumin
1 large Lemon (juiced)
3 Mint leaves
5 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tbsp Tahini Paste
1 tbsp Oil (for the steaks)
Salt and Pepper
Instructions
• Pat dry the steaks with kitchen paper and season, heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add the steaks.
• Cook without touching for 3 minutes, turn and cook for a further 2-3 minutes before removing to a warm place and resting for 4-5 minutes.
• Meanwhile, prepare the hummus by cooking the petit pois, draining and running under the cold tap. Pat dry and place in a food processor with the garlic, cumin, lemon juice, mint, olive oil and tahini paste. Add a little more lemon juice to make a thick puree and season to taste.

This dish is fantastic served with a simple Rocket and Tomato Salad and a few hunks of crusty bread or even a some new potatoes, and these tender, heart-shaped steaks really will add a sense of occasion to your Valentine’s Day.
